Experiential learning activities focus on the following core thematic areas:
Services are delivered via three complementary programs: Internship Asia, Delegations Asia and Mobilize Myanmar. Internship Asia: Tailored internships for Myanmar university scholarship students, civil society practitioners, and returning field experts. Delegation Asia: Tailored, sector-specific capacity development for civil society leaders and partners using Asian round table events, delegation visits to share best practice, and national conferences to share learning and identify ways forward. Mobilized Myanmar: Direct consultation and professional support to Myanmar civil society organizations to contribute to the development of rights networks in Myanmar. In January 2013, TEF’s Experiential Learning Department led an exposure visit for leading Myanmar civil society figures to Sri Lanka to meet members of the peace, rights and rule of law movement. The two groups met and discussed ways to progress peace and human rights initiatives. The President of the Myanmar Lawyers Network, Convener of the Women’s Organizations Network, Myanmar’s youth representative to ASEAN, and representatives from the Kachin and Karen peace delegations also attended along with Ma Thida, an internationally recognized author, journalist and former political prisoner representing the newly formed Myanmar Journalist Union. This visit led to the formation of the Myanmar National Peace and Rights Consortium which Thabyay continues to support through leadership, administration and development where needed.
