IN MYANMAR
The British Council (BC), Yangon As well as using Educasia materials in its own classes, the BC provides materials and training opportunities through Educasia to its network of 22 Millennium Centers (community libraries and teaching centers) and the monthly meetings of the English Language Teaching Contacts Scheme (ELTeCS). The American Center (AC), Yangon The AC purchases and distributes Educasia materials to some of its 92 Community Libraries, cooperates in planning teacher training workshops, provides access to its Teacher’s Clubs in Upper Myanmar, and raises awareness of Educasia’s services among teachers and trainers in its network. Loka Ahlinn Loka Ahlinn staff regularly collaborate with Educasia on training, workshop presentation and development of materials. They also benefit greatly from Educasia’s teacher training, curriculum advice and materials at their centers in Yangon, Magwe, Dawei, Bogalay and Mandalay. Myanmar Community Academies Programme (MCAP) Educasia works closely with the Thabyay Educational Network’s MCAP programme. Currently Educasia is designing the curriculum, providing training for the teachers, supplying almost all its teaching materials. It also provides office space for MCAP staff, writing assessments, contributing to the academy management manual and assisting with logistics. Bayda/New Myanmar Foundation These two Community-Based Organizations, with overlapping management, have received a large proportion of Educasia’s assistance since 2011. They provide workshops in social sciences, primarily to political and community activists from outside Yangon, many of whom are members of the Myanmar Youth Network. They use a ‘cascade’ training model, with activists then taking Educasia’s materials back to their towns and villages and teaching them to others. Myanmar Education Consortium (MEC) This group, put together under the auspices of Australian Aid, has as its focus bringing together different aid groups in the greater Yangon area to foster sharing and cooperation in the areas of materials development, capacity building and monitoring and evaluation. Over the years, Thabyay has developed tuition cost-sharing, scholarship partnership with a number of universities. These partnerships allow scholarship recipients through Thabyay to enjoy up to 50% tuition fee waiver from these institutions. IN THAILAND
The Curriculum Project currently collaborates with the following organizations to deliver services: Karen Refugee Committee Education Entity (KRCEE) The Education Department of the Karen Refugee Committee has responsibility for basic and higher education in seven refugee camps. The Curriculum Project works closely with the KRCEE on its Institute of Higher Education’s (IHE) curriculum and training initiatives, and supplies modules to all six IHE schools. The Curriculum Department’s modules form the majority of the schools' curriculum. Karen Education Department (KED) The Education Department of the Karen National Union, the KED supports schools in Karen State. The Curriculum Project has links to mostly primary, but also three post-secondary schools and it works with the KED on curricula and training for them. World Education Thailand (WE) An international NGO that supports camp and migrant education. World Education and The Curriculum Project are part of a consortium of NGOs and Community Based Organizations that are developing a strategic plan for age 10-plus camp-based education programmes. Karenni Education Department (KnED) The Education Department of the Karenni National Progressive Party. The Curriculum Project collaborates with the KnED on issues relating to higher education in Karenni camps and districts. Burmese Migrant Teachers Association (BMTA) BMTA is a union of Mae Sot based migrant teachers. The Curriculum Project works with BMTA to implement training and participates in BMTA curriculum workshops. Burma Education Partnership (BEP) BEP is a UK-based training provider, which works with K-12 schools in refugee camps and the migrant community to upgrade teachers’ capacity. The Curriculum Project and BEP collaborate on training, and use BEP’s expertise in forming training policy. RELATED LINKS
