Mission

Our mission is to promote social justice, foster reconciliation, alleviate marginalization, and support sustainable development in Myanmar through higher education and professional development.  We seek to achieve this through knowledge creation, innovative learning and guided skills expansion, as well as by forging connections to networks, information and opportunities.  We are inspired to create far-reaching transformations for the people of Myanmar.


Key Functions

• Preparing qualified students of diverse cultural backgrounds for a leadership role in their community and university study abroad through Community Leadership and Social Studies Program.
• Sourcing and providing internships with development-oriented organizations across the country for CLASS graduates and key community and civil society workers to develop their skills and networks.
• Offering four-skill English classes and providing educational support to help students obtain the necessary qualifications to apply for university admission abroad.
• Developing and distributing a wide range of context-appropriate curricular and learning materials for young adults to develop analytical skills, broaden perspectives and prepare for higher education.
• Providing training to teachers to promote active, analytical, student-centered learning environment.
• Negotiating with university partners in Asia to obtain tuition scholarship for qualified students from Myanmar.
• Sourcing, placing and supporting teaching volunteers to upgrade the English language levels of students in the marginalized communities in preparation for higher education.

Thabyay’s programs are designed to support students and key community and civil society workers. We help them to acquire the skills, knowledge, networks and assistance to foster self-directed, sustainable development in their communities and the wider society.
