General English - Elementary
This course is designed to assist Myanmar students’ NEEDS in learning English using a multilayered, topic-based syllabus which includes thorough and comprehensive work on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and the skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing. This course aims to motivate learners by basing modules around up-to-date topics of international interest. Students are encouraged to learn more about the world and other cultures through the medium of English, and personalization is strongly emphasized. It also encourages to become life-long learners and the topics provided are truly used for both daily life and career path. Critical thinking exercises are provided in the activities and lessons in each unit so that students will practice the systematic thinking automatically. This course is also beneficial for students preparing to write the TOFEL or IELTS exam. This course is suitable for students with Elementary level English. Academic Reading & Writing ( Level-1) This course is the first level in a two part series for students who want to improve their academic reading and writing skills in preparation for university studies. This course is designed for students who have basic reading and writing skills but continue to struggle with accuracy and have limited experience writing for specific purposes. This course focuses on extensive reading and writing practice to improve confidence and to further reading and writing competence. Students will learn to read for main ideas and use new vocabulary strategies. They will also generate and organize ideas into short essays, proof read for basic errors and improve grammar, sentence structure and vocabulary. Academic Reading & Writing ( Level- 2 ) This course is the second level in a two part series for students who want to improve their academic reading and writing skills in preparation for university studies. Within the context of meaningful writing tasks students will develop skills in writing effective sentences, paragraphs and short essays and will be given the opportunity to practice the different stages of writing from rough draft through editing to final draft. Strategies and tips on how to present clear arguments and structure an effective persuasive paper will also be given. High-interest academic texts will provide context for writing tasks while helping students to build relevant academic vocabulary and skills. This course is suitable for students with an intermediate to upper-intermediate level of English. IELTS Foundation This course is designed to help prepare students with the foundations of the IELTS exam for academic purposes. It focuses on developing proficiency in all four sections of the test: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Students will become familiar with the question types and tasks that they will likely find on the test and will learn useful test-taking and self-study strategies. Full practice IELTS exams will be administered under authentic conditions so that students can track their progress. While the course will emphasize skill building for the purpose of successfully completing the IELTS exam the skills covered will also help to enhance students’ general English language abilities. This course is suitable for students with intermediate level English. After completion of the course students will be able to enroll in IELTS Preparation. |
